What is CBD? How is it different from cannabis??
CBD is a type of cannabinoid; there are over 100 different types of cannabinoid, all of which have different properties. The cannabinoid that’s active in the cannabis people smoke is called THC. Our CBD oil comes from industrial hemp, which is similar to the plants used for recreational cannabis – but it contains negligible amounts of THC.
CBD is legal in the UK. Because it’s different from the cannabis people smoke, it doesn’t have the mind altering or intoxicating properties and is not a controlled substance in the UK. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) lifted its ban on CBD for athletes in 2018 so as long as you are using a broad-spectrum extract that contains no THC, it is allowed for athletes too.
Will CBD oil get me high?
No. CBD does not have psychoactive properties. It comes from the hemp plant rather than the cannabis plant. The cannabinoid that gets people high is called THC and our product contains 0.2% THC.
How do I know I’m getting good quality CBD?
The main thing to remember when choosing a CBD oil is that if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is! Good quality CBD oil will be extracted using CO2 or alcohol, rather than chemicals such as propane or butane. The label should include the amount of CBD in the product – ours comes in 5%, 10% or 20% strength. A reputable CBD company will have lab reports for their product that are available for you to check. We provide copies of our lab reports to our customers and will always take the time to answer any questions.
Is it safe to take CBD alongside medication from my GP?
It’s always best to check with your GP before trying something new. CBD can affect the way your body processes your other medications so always speak to your GP if you are taking medication. On its own, research has shown that CBD is generally safe with few if any side effects.
What is the right dosage for CBD?
The right dosage for you depends on your condition. Everyone is different and it depends on your body structure, size and so on. No two people are the same, so it’s important to remember that just because your friend has taken a particular dose, it doesn’t mean that same dose will work for you even if you feel you have exactly the same symptoms.
